Our Culture

A culture of opportunity

Pekin Insurance is a place where people connect and grow

We offer a supportive family culture that makes our offices comfortable places to settle in and do your best work. We offer competitive pay, solid benefits, and plenty of little extras that help demonstrate how much we value our people.

We have a long history

Founded in 1921, we’ve steadily grown from just a small local company offering only auto insurance to offering a full range of insurance products in an ever-growing number of states.

We work with independent insurance agents

Our insurance model involves working with independent agents who do not represent a single insurance provider but are able to provide their customers with the policies from whatever company’s product that best matches their needs. Our goal is to provide insurance products that fit those needs.

We offer an innovative mix of products

We’ve got all the usual auto, home, health, life, etc. that you expect. But we also offer some twists, like pet health insurance and transitional life insurance, which changes to meet families’ needs at the different stages of their lives. It’s all part of listening to our customers’ needs — and meeting them.

We have a great hometown

We’re one of the largest employers in our hometown of Pekin, Illinois, making us one of the area’s anchors and strengths. It’s a community located right on the Illinois River and is known for its parks and outdoor recreational spaces. We’re right across the river from Peoria, thus accessible to all the big-city shopping, dining, culture, music, and professional sports.

Looking for a Great Fit?

We know you’re not here just for a job — you want a career. And, beyond questions of pay, benefits and hours, you want to know what it is like to work for us.

Make a Difference.

You’ll be both challenged and supported as you gain career accomplishments that enhance your resume and enable you to make a real difference in the lives of our policyholders when they need us most. Performing meaningful and important work in an environment that empowers you to do it well leads to high job satisfaction.

Who We Hire.

Our success depends on us hiring people who are a great fit for the culture of Pekin Insurance. We hire creative thinkers with solid work ethics who understand that teamwork always beats individual brilliance. We offer continuous training — you’ll never stop learning here. We provide you with compelling challenges and plenty of opportunities to make your mark. You will experience the satisfaction that comes from helping make worthwhile things happen, all in a supportive, family culture. It's back to school for a lot of local kiddos this week! 📚 There often seems to be confusion among drivers as to what that big, red, octagonal sign with flashing red lights and the letters s, t, o & p really means on those big yellow school buses. 🛑 We thought we'd explain:

✔️ It means STOP! ✋ As in, hit the brakes until you come to a complete stop at least 20 feet away from the bus.

✔️ Don't accelerate to try to get past the bus before the stop arm is fully extended.

✔️ Don't slow down and think it's okay to slowly drive by a bus full of precious cargo. You'll be able to stop quickly enough if one of those little cargo runs out in front of you ... wrong!

✔️ Don't act like you didn't see the stopped bright yellow bus and flashing lights either, because that means you were distracted and that's just not cool (and it's illegal).

Then comes the real test of patience. You must remain stopped until the stop arm is fully in and the lights stop flashing. This time of waiting for little kiddos to load on/off the bus is not a time to get your phone out to check your latest notifications or apply makeup or read a book ... that's distracted driving (still not cool). 👍 If it calms your leadfoot, just remember an average school bus stop is shorter than a traffic stop! 🚦

Lastly, kids learn in school that "sharing is caring," so go ahead and share the information about cars who don't stop with your local police department.🚨They'd really appreciate that and give you an A+! 💯

*Just to cover ourselves: sometimes there are exceptions or different state laws, so research your area. Overall, be patient and when in doubt, STOP.
